The Story of Ruth
It’s a simple story in the Old Testament. Ruth is one of the two Moabite women who marries one of the sons of Elimelech and Naomi. When Elimelech and his sons Mahlon and Chillion die, leaving behind three widowed women, Naomi’s mother-in-law, a poor widow with two non-Jewish daughters-in-law, she decides to return to Israel. One daughter-in-law, Orpah, says goodbye to her, deciding to stay with her family, and the other daughter-in-law, Ruth, says she won’t break up with him and goes with her. She decides to give up life and culture in Moab to be with Naomi.
